How to read a cloud

A cloud is where the thing could be, not where it is. Radius comes from peak signal strength through log-distance path loss d = 10^((P₁ₘ − RSSI) / 10n), n = 2.2, P₁ₘ = −59 dBm (BLE) / −40 dBm (Wi-Fi), floored at 3 m because the GPS never knew our own position better than that. Loud means close, so the cloud is small and bright; faint could be anywhere out to the edge, so it is wide and diffuse. Centres are power-weighted means of every position the thing was heard from.

Minimum signal strength to draw

Anything weaker than this is hidden. The default is the most permissive setting, showing every detection in the capture.

Cloud size

Relative strength maps signal onto a fixed on-screen span so every cloud stays legible and comparable at any zoom. True metres draws the real path-loss radius, which is honest but makes the loudest detections vanish until you zoom right in.
